We strongly recommend you to look at the 2 project samples. These projects are generated when you sign up. It will help you to be familiar with the concepts of Hiptest: scenario, action word, test run… You can delete them at any time.
Ready to go now with your first project?
Go to the projects list. To create a new project, click on Create project link.
Write the name (My first project!).
For this example, select the project type BDD-Friendly and click on Create (Later, if you want to change the project type for Classic Agile mode, you can manage it in the Project Settings in the left menu).
Then you access directly to your project Dashboard.
Go to the Scenarios page using the left menu. Create a new scenario named ‘Login”.
You can now navigate to this scenario by clicking on its name. On the scenario page, you can add a description. Then start writing your first step, an action: “Given user logs in with Jon as username and Newcorp as password” and click on Create action word.
Add a second step, a check: “Then user should be logged in” and click on Create action word.
Congratulation, you have created your very first (and simple) scenario! Let’s execute it.
Go to the Test runs page using the left menu. Create a new test run named Test Sprint 1.
Select your test run.
Once you have created a test run, an execution cycle is automatically created. Click on the Resume test button to execute the test manually.
You can set the scenario status, or update the step statuses one by one. Two buttons allow you to pause or close the execution cycle.
After the test execution, the test status has been updated. You can click on the test to see details.
Click on the test run name (left column) to come back to the summary.
You are done! Now you can start your first project. We also recommend you to learn other key features of Hiptest like action word, refactoring and Hiptest publisher if you plan to automate your tests and integrate with your CI process.
