We are very excited to announce that SmartBear was recently named a “Leader” in Gartner’s annual Magic Quadrant for Software Test Automation. SmartBear received the highest score for its “Ability to execute” and the second highest score for its “Completeness of vision.” The report validates the efforts of the SmartBear team over the past year to expand its footprint within the test automation space, and specifically references the addition of HipTest to the SmartBear family.
SmartBear’s emphasis on enabling continuous testing has not gone unnoticed. On the topic, Gartner says this: “It [SmartBear] enables continuous testing through its strong capabilities across the different phases of the software development life cycle.”
HipTest represents a piece of that continuous testing puzzle (along with other SmartBear tools like Zephyr, ReadyAPI, and CrossBrowserTesting) that is fundamental to the planning phase of the software delivery lifecycle. HipTest enables users to test continuously by collaborating, documenting, and executing behavior-driven development (BDD) scenarios.
As the only continuous testing platform that supports BDD, the tool enables non-technical business people and technical developers and testers to speak the same language and deliver products to market at a rapid pace. “HipTest strengthens native BDD support and provides the ability to generate and sync natural language product documentation,” the report concludes.
In regards to documentation, the living documentation feature that HipTest provides allows users to take a specification and feature file in Gherkin and turn them into an always-up-to-date documentation in a common business language, thus improving collaboration amongst all team members.
