Internet of Things. Agile. DevOps. Artificial intelligence. Microservices. Blockchain. GraphQL. Big data. These buzzwords have been thrown around for years. Their adoption has often lagged due to the fact that, in many cases, they require a widespread organizational change or technology overhaul.
Another concept – or perhaps, you might think of it as a buzzword – that you may have heard about is Behavior-Driven Development, or BDD. First introduced by Dan North in 2006, BDD is an approach to software development that focuses on defining the behavior of a feature through examples in plain text.
While the movement from waterfall to Agile/DevOps has been a prominent one, you might not be familiar with the role that BDD plays in helping facilitate a successful transition to DevOps.
How does it help speed software delivery? In what ways does it enable cross-functional collaboration? Is it just a buzzword? Or is there a tangible, measurable value associated with BDD for your team?
Now you may or may not know the answers to the questions posed above—and if you already see the value BDD brings, great! But you may be having trouble figuring out how to actually implement BDD in practice. How can you start to use BDD in your team’s next project? What kind of tooling is available to help facilitate the adoption of BDD in your organization?
For the answer to all of the questions posed in this blog post, we invite you to join us for a webinar with one of the biggest names in the BDD space, Gáspár Nagy. Nagy is the creator and main contributor of Specflow, an open source BDD automation framework that enables the creation of executable specifications. He also co-wrote a book on BDD, Discovery: Explore behaviour using examples, with Cucumber co-founder Seb Rose.
As an independent coach, trainer, and test automation expert focusing on helping teams implement BDD and Specflow, Nagy has more than 15 years of experience in enterprise software development as an architect and agile developer coach.
On Thursday, February 21st, Nagy will team up with Bria Grangard, Product Marketing Manager for HipTest, to introduce the basics of Behavior Driven Development. Together, Gáspár and Bria will help you understand the tangible benefits that BDD can bring to your next project.
There will be two (identical) live sessions of the webinar:
- Session 1: 9:00 AM EST / 2:00 PM GMT
- Session 2: 2:00 PM EST / 7:00 PM GMT
